Furrows Log Cabin Quilt, Circa 1900
Wonderful “Furrows” Log Cabin quilt made from chalice (wool), circa 1900. This is a heavy quilt. This would make a fantastic wall hanging or folded up in a cabinet or on the end of a bed. The colors are rich. The back of the quilt is made from a deep red fabric with a black floral pattern. One end of the quilt has the addition of a blue plaid and floral strip which was used to prevent the quilt from getting dirty when pulled up under the chin. This piece could be removed. The quilt is tied and appears to be machine stitched. Condition: this quilt has some condition problems, mostly in 25% of the 80 blocks, which have minor to significant wear. This quilt was purchased at auction in Williamson, New York. 72” x 91 ½”.
