Signed & Dated Album Quilt Top
This excellent condition, yellow sashed album quilt top is dated "34" for 1934 and has many signatures, including those names of men. The center block says, "Bow Bell / HB / 34 / GPME / W" (Slashes signify line breaks.) The quilt top was found at auction in Alton, NY and it is unknown what Bow Bell means. The quilt measures 79" x 80" and includes 25 blocks with 24 names. Those names include: Kate Watrous, C.F. Watrous, Marion Fox, Martin Horton, Clair Merrill, Albinia E. Cohoon, Genevieve Rowley, Ralph B. Watrous, Henrietta Wylie, Maragrett Kelly?, Doris M. Dodd, Ruth Spencer, Robert C. Wylie, Anne Walling, Ethel Wylie, Bertha B. Merrill, Ward Spencer, Edna Beardsley, Iva L. Merrill, Ada Watrous Cheney, Flossie Hall, Jessie M. Barber, Ethel Wylie, Harold Dodd, and Clarence Merrill.
